First Image Of A Black Hole

The first image of a black hole shadow was presented to the public earlier today at a NSF conference. The black hole, located in the galaxy M87, confirmed the predictions of Einstein's general theory of relativity in the strong regime by having a circular centre reminiscent of a donut . Behold, M87's supermassive BH:

Looks very scary to be honest. Nice picture though atleast we get a visual idea of how it looks like.

Just so you guys get an idea of how huge this thing is:

I takes light 2 or 3 light-days to travel the diameter of the black hole. And you can fit the entire solar system inside the shadow, and then some
