The first image of a black hole shadow was presented to the public earlier today at a NSF conference. The black hole, located in the galaxy M87, confirmed the predictions of Einstein's general theory of relativity in the strong regime by having a circular centre reminiscent of a donut šŸ© . Behold, M87's supermassive BH:

NASA really needs to get the James Webb Telescope launched and we'll be seeing some great imagery and new discoveries.
