Fingerprint Sensor Support

I noticed that there are requests for the Web API but my request is in relation to the new functionality coming in Chrome 70 that brings the use of the Macbook Sensor and Android Sensor (possibly iPhone face unlock?) to websites. My suggestion is for this to be included in xenforo.

That is pretty cool! My laptop has one (XPS 9560) but most mobile phones have one nowadays...

Indeed.

The only use case I can think of is login, are there more?

Not sure, I know the use case that the Chrome team showcases is "Login". I mean its only for Authentication, so like changing major settings or deleting someone, etc. It's up to how the xF team wants to include it if ever. My suggestion was mostly just for Logins to speed them up.

I'm not sure if Xenforo would actually do it but even if they do, it'd assume it will be extremely hard for them to do in android. Because, android doesn't have api to retrieve the fingerprint data. It is stored in TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) and is not accessible by anything other than the TEE processor. All you can do is, verify if the scanned finger print exists in the phone's trusted zone and get a return value.

I'm not sure how xenforo will be able to associate fingerprint to an account on the server than just having a local auth token saved (may be in cookie?) for the first time login and authenticate with it for later use.
