XF 2.0 File Health Check /install/index.php

Hello there,

So, this is the first time I have ever run into this issue. Typically I delete any install or upgrade folders from my server for security purposes. Out of the blue I get an email saying that some files were problematic. Those files are as follows:

/install/index.php
/install/install.css

Both are labeled as missing. When in fact the entire folder was deleted after upgrading to v2.0.5

Question is, why are these files being looked for to begin with? And should the install folder be left intact moving forward? That just seems like a security issue waiting to happen. Most other forums won't even let you continue an install or upgrade until the install or setup folders are removed.

There is no need to delete the install folder it and it is required should you ever need to rebuild the master data.

There's no need to rename or delete the installation directory as it is protected against unauthorised access through our standard authentication system.

The most you might want to consider doing is additionally protecting it with http auth:

Yes.
