As designed Field showing during registration even if not ticked

I have a custom field (for personal details), but have not ticked show during registration however it does show during registration unless I untick required.

So presumably the filed will need to be filled when a user edits their personal details of course, but should not show during registration.

The description text explains this will happen.

Required fields will always show during registration.

Oh yes, it's there in tiny lights grey writing.

I don't understand why it would be like that by design, what if you want a filed to not show during registration, but only when filling in personal details later on?

Plus, if required fields have to show on registration, surely if you tick that required box, it should automatically make the show during registration box ticked and not give you the option to leave it unticked.
