XF 1.5 External Service Provider for IPv6 lookups

    http://ip-lookup.net does a horrid job with foreign IP addresses (generally failing to find anything). Is there another more reliable service that isn't as bad that can be plugged in for IPv6 lookups?

    Interestingly, it looks as though whatismyipaddress.com (which we have always used for IPv4 lookups) seems to now support IPv6:
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/2001:4860:4860::8888

    So, if you want to do some testing with the option set to the following, feedback on that could be useful:
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/{ip}

    Awesome. From the few checks I've already done, it appears to be working much better than ip-lookup.

    Keep us updated on how it is working. We may switch that to be the default option in XF 1.5.2 onwards (though that may only affect new installs).

    Gawd. Switch it. The IPv6 lookups are infinitely faster and haven't hit a dud yet with the foreign addresses.

    Thanks for the feedback; I've done my own tests also and it seems to be better. Unfortunately at the time, the default IP info site didn't support IPv6 hence why that one was introduced.

    We've changed this for XF 1.5.2. We have decided to affect the default value (for new installs) but where the existing value of that option is the old ip info site on upgrade, we are updating that to the original site, too.
