Extend Registration

Is there a way to extend the registration setup as I need to add things like First Name, Last Name, Address, Zip Code, City, State, Country etc.

Custom profile fields are coming in 1.1 this summer.

Okay hopefully it comes soon because we need it. I suppose if I have to i'll do other things that can be done without these fields until we have them. Do you know if they will give the ability to add these fields to and at registration and determining whether they are required or optional or editable later in the time?
