Even More IPB to Xenforo Migration Questions

Just need a sanity check in moving from self-hosted IPB/IC to self-hosted Xenforo.
  1. My IPB forum includes a gallery, so I'm assuming I need to buy the Media Gallery license as well. If purchased, does the importer work to move over the gallery content as well as forums and posts?
  2. How is spam handling in Xenforo? IPB has a database they check that, until recently, has been very good. But a spammer gets through about twice a week now.
  3. How easy is Google Adsense integration? Is it done via the CP or do you insert code into the template page, or both?
  4. If you have recently migrated from IPB to Xenforo how did your members take it?
I have a relatively small forum with about 115k total posts in just over 11k topics that dates back to 1999 in one form or another. There are about 6,700 members total. Our peak had 11,600 visitors at a time but that was back in February, and most days we have under 1,000 visitors (343 online right now).

XF core has "Advertisements". You can choose from various places and paste your HTML there. You can also include and exclude user groups. I never used this, but should work fine:

Yes, you need a XFMG license as well. I am quite sure the importer also imports the gallery (but no guarantee).

Edit: just looked at the importer interface. Here's a screenshot:

-> so, yes there are importers for XFMG.

XF core has integrations for StopForumSpam, Project Honey Pot and Akismet.

There's also a great add-on by @Xon, that extends the capabilities of XF fighting spam:

Never done this, but users hate any change - before they begin to get used to it and never want to go back again. ;)

If you ahve the current version of IC, the official XenForo importer doesn't support it yet. You will either have to tweak it or have a brand new importer coded that supports it and the gallery.

Thanks for the reply. I have the current version of IC, self hosted, (Invision Community v4.7.24), using the regular updates as they have released them.

Are the images added to the posts using the "Attach Files" button in the editor part of the Media Gallery? xen-attach-photo.webp

IC 4 is listed as being supported by XenForo's official importer.

And regarding your edited post:

I am not sure, if I understand you correctly, but I guess attachment mirroring is what you are looking for:

Sorry for the imprecise language. It looks like you can "attach files" in messages, including images, that Xenforo stores in the file system (just as IPB/IC does). I have about 15 GB of attachments to my posts that are mainly images. In addition, it looks like you can "mirror" those images into the Gallery if you wish, but you don't need the Media Gallery for a post to have an image attached.
