ES Statistics

Are my Documents and Index Updates values supposed to match? When I set up ES a few weeks ago, I seem to recall these values were either equal or very nearly.

For example, my current values are:

Documents: 1,165,022 (363.2 MB)
Index Updates: 1,606 (0.0025 seconds average)

They are unlikely to match. The statistics relating to updates/searches/fetches relate to since the ES server was restarted. The documents value survives restarts.
