We have a problem with an imported add-on that uses a set of named files to generate images. The problem is that those file names contain spaces and there is no automatic encoding of the spaces. Would it be possible/reasonable to have the URL encoding happen in the core?

I was thinking it might be possible to include a little javascript that did a URIencode on all the URLs.

Perhaps I am way out of touch and this can be added to the .htaccess but I don't think it gets that far before the error is recognized.
