Emails sent by site administrators

Hey there, was wondering if anyone has ever used the emails sent by site administrators, and if so, what scenarios did you use it for?

Our forum is going to move to another server on 4th of April 2014, you won't be able to use it.

I use it to send promotional e-mails to members, or send updates for current upcoming events etc.
