Yes I would like this as well. Has anyone used any of the services for this like neverbounce?
@Alpha1 can tell you all about email validation as he helped get the new validation feature in DragonByte Mail tested :D

---

You used to be able to open a SMTP connection to the remote mail host and pretend to send an email, then close the connection before sending the actual "send" command, but mail servers have wisened up and you'll now need to use paid 3rd party validation services to handle this.

It's a sad situation that in order to stop your site getting flagged for spam, if you don't want to pay, you have to send spam to your users at least once every 6 months to ensure they're still valid, before sending out a big mailshot.

I tested pretty much all email validation services on hundreds of thousands of addresses. I will send you some information by conversation about strengths and weaknesses per provider. There are a few clear winners and a lot of services I would not advise.

Can you send me this same info?

FYI : the current addon checks email DOMAIN, which IMHO is important to do on registration page. Its free.

Email validation services are paid services. The most important ones are integrated with Dragonbyte Tech Mail addon. These check the email address on a variety of aspects. Not just the domain. This is important to do on your whole userbase.

If you have emailed all users regularly AND handled bounces accurately and carefully, then email address validation is not needed.
If not, then validate them all.

For sure, I understand that. But, let's say an old email address domain went away and is no longer valid. This tool could run through those and save money on running them through the paid services.

Our bounces are handled on SendGrid's side and it doesn't currently update our Xenforo install, it just doesn't send them emails. However, I don't want to flood them with invalid addresses as that will hurt our reputation with them. Being able to run your tool on our entire list before running it through a validation would help save time and money. They charge by the address after all.

Hope this helps make it a bit more clearer.
