XF 2.1 Email Confirmation Broken

I have had 20 registered users in last week. None have been able to get past confirmation due to a error in email. I just tried myself with another email, notification shows up with my email showing a YELLOW (!) saying email could not be confirmed. However message is in email to confirm the registration. Clicking confirm bring me back to a page saying Oops and resend confirmation email.

Which email transport method are you using?

Admin control panel -> Setup -> Options -> Email options -> Email transport method

It's on default. The email I use for default is gmail.
