I know that the edit history will be pruned automatically, depending on the prunetime we#ll have many orphan entries.

If somebody (like me ) deactivates the prune, they'll NEVER be removed from the table.

Yeah, probably reasonable to trim then.

yes, if i hard delete a post, the edit history stays in the table

The edit history seems to be deleted in my tests (threads and posts). Obviously, if you're adding new handlers for this, you'll need to clean them up.

I feel like a fool.

I was in the wrong database as i checked this

I shouldn't use databasenames like xf12b1_1 xf12b1_2 and a testsuite which is inserting the same data (sernames and posts) into all of them
