Look in library/Xenforo/ControllerPublic/Login.php for actionLogin() That is the login form submit action.

Erik, thank you for taking time to help me get my bearings.

It's kind of funny how this is going. I have done a fair amount over the years on oop/mvc systems, but I guess there are gaps in what I know and I need to get into xf at a new depth. I think I have what I need to get this rolling now, as soon as I can put a few hours into it. I will find out if that is the case pretty soon here.
