Does xenForo have threaded / nested or linear format?

Do you want threaded ? Why ? Show me a good threaded discussion (URL).
It seems threaded discussion is becoming less and less popular. There are times when I want it .... but it never seems to work well.

Sure, happy to show you a perfect example of what I'll call "Modern Threaded" where there are multiple posts on a page but indented right under the post they are replying to (not at the bottom - unrelated to the source post)..... see the comments below the article...

I've seen Xenforo styled like that before.
I think it was Guiltar ! in the wiki thing.

That type of styling is often done in wordpress commenting as well.

What about <snipped>? They seem to have an optional nesting/threaded ability that looks very useful and pretty much a perfect compromise. I couldn't find any info on how they did it. I'm guessing they heavily customized it themselves?
The only thing I don't like about it is the placement of the "like" icon. It should be moved to the side.

That's for profile posts, i.e. posting messages on someone's profile. That works a bit different from forum threads. Comments on profile posts are, indeed, inline. But posts on forum threads are not.

Classic third party error. I'm surprised it's not been fixed by now given it's Wikipedia.
Personally, I used to swear by threaded view as a forum I used to be a member of years ago used Beehive which worked like that. Having moved away from it when the site shut down, I find flat works fine, too. In the end, both have their pros and cons, so one must compromise one way or the other.
