The caching provider implementation that XF uses is being sunset. This will result in a reduction in the out-of-box support for caching implementations is a straight upgrade is done.

Looks like migrating to symfony/cache is a possibility.

We are already aware of the sun setting but we haven’t yet started exploring alternatives.

Though we will of course check out symfony/cache, thanks for the heads up.

A change of this nature may be tricky and offset against the fact that the caching providers currently work it may not be a change we make with any urgency, depending on the number of issues that may be caused by migrating to something else.

At the moment this isn’t going to be tracked as a bug but always worth flagging these things in case it passes under our radar, so thank you.
