Hello!
Do you make money from forums, especially newly created ones?
You can also write exactly how much you earn if you want?
Is it profitable?
I am passionate but I will invest time and money so.. it will he good

If you plan to earn money by creating a forum today I advise you to plan other means to pay your bills because it may take some time before your first earnings are recorded, if that happens one day...
I work 9-5 but why people make blogs to earn money? Who will waste all day for free ?

Here we are speaking about forums not blogs.
I tell you again, if you had the idea of creating a forum to earn money you were wrong...

I spent over 1.2k before we even opened. Others even more.

It’s possible, even in 2024 but not without any investment, plan or something to offer to your members. Just content isn’t going to cut it.

At the moment I make a little money from forums but I wouldn't say I make enough to live on or to pay the costs of the running of the forums, this is something that I tend to pay for myself. I am hoping over time that will change but it is going to take some time.

How to make $1million from running and owning a forum - Spend $2million :D

No one will ever get rich from owning a forum, unless you treat it as an asset and someone comes along and wants to buy it from you.
As forums grow, so do the running costs. As demand on the server grows, so does the requirement for bigger and better. It's like nurturing a seed, the more it grows the more you need to pour into it.

If I'm wrong and someone knows a way to make decent money, please get in touch :D

not everyone runs a site to make money.
i would like to but need to perfect my skills.
friend of mine runs an astronomy site because it is his hobby.
he spends a lot on his site but makes nothing because he enjoys running it.
he told me something recently when i was hot to make money on my site and trying to figure out how to get it going fast.
"it is not always about making money but enjoying something you are doing".

I don’t personally make money just from participating in forums, but it can be done if you know how to go about it! Some people make money by offering advice, selling products, or promoting affiliate links on their posts. For instance, if you have a blog or YouTube channel and share links, you can earn commissions if people click and buy from those.

if you spending your time just to create a community & get knowladge, your are losing your time, which can not be bought.
human lives only once, life is short, so just leave it & try yourself somewhere else.

To make any money you will need to offer products or member account upgrades, I would not count on Adsense or similar banner networks to bring more than pennies until you have serious traffic.

Build one based on a topic you have an interest in and go from there.

Our Forum is part of the offerings of a nonprofit that operates a museum open to the public, a large research library and document archive, a school that teaches our primary subject of clock and watch design and repair. We also have a dozen meetings annually by regional subgroups and about 100 local groups that meet every couple of months around the U.S. We publish a magazine on the subject several times each year.

The forum is essentially all volunteer with one paid consultant. The dues paying members of our association pay around $100/year and we have a cadre of members who make much larger contributions.

We would like to figure out how to make the forums generate significant income but it is very difficult.

I think there are other educational nonprofits with similar operations and likely others who also run on XenForo.

We only require registration to participate in our forums, but paid members do get recognition and access to our operational forums for dues paying members. https://mb.nawcc.org/

Forums are practically 99% dead but often those who manage them say that it is not true and it always makes me laugh...
Now I even read about administrators (or at this point it is better to call them saints and benefactors) who write that they do not care and it is not important to earn money from their forums!!! I find myself in a candid camera and I had not realized it!

I manage all my sites as a hobby but it is very important and gratifying that they also make me earn as much as possible! Managing a site costs (license, hosting) and requires many hours of me so being able to earn something from it is certainly a great thing and it is very important both as a personal gratification but also and above all because if you have a budget available, you can spend it to improve the site!

I track hundreds of forum's statistics on FD. If 99% of them were dead as you say, their forum statistics wouldn't be increasing by hundreds to (tens of, for the big boards) thousands of posts each check. This goes for even free forums such as MyBB and phpBB.
