XF 1.2 Do search engines (Google Image) pick up attachment thumbnails?

I'm not entirely good with SEO, and for the most part understand that XF has that covered!

One thing I'm wondering, and correct me please, do XF's attachment thumbnail pictures get picked up by Google image searching (and other search bots)?

If so, would it not be more beneficial to have the thumbnail's name related to the picture? Example, you have a picture of an apple, instead of naming the thumbnail "31-21633dbe38b1f0b87b0a56827cd44b10.jpg" would something like "apple-22-21339db10.jpg" be better?

Again, correct me. I'm just bringing this up because one of the forums I frequent, I found the forum searching for a particular picture (using Google Image search); and obviously, the picture's identity name partially match what I was searching for.

As far as I'm aware, Google image search uses the context on the page around the image more so than the actual file name of the image.
