Do I need to reindexing while moving from XF 1.5 to XF 2.1?

We're migrating from XF 1.5.X to 2.1.X, we're already using Enhanced search plugin on XF 1.5.X, and thus the elastic index is up to date. We've millions of records in the index.

My question is, after we do DB migration from XF 1.5 to XF 2.x, do we also need to rebuild the whole index? I guess if Elastic mapping are same in both version, I might skip it.
