Users who can view the contents of a node can also see the number of threads and messages in it, plus a link to the last message. Users who can see the node on the list but not its contents - only see the node title/description and the word "Private". I want them to see the number of threads and messages in all nodes that they can see on the list.
In a perfect world I also want to disable the link to a node, if they don't have access to its contents. I want them to see that we have it, and to see how many threads/messages are in there, but I don't want them clicking on it and seeing the default error message "There are no threads in this node" because it's confusing and misleading - there are plenty of threads, they just don't have access to view them.
Any pointers greatly appreciated
