RM 2.1 Discussion redirects to thread without tabs

When I press Join the discussion, you are completely redirected into the thread. You are no longer on the resource and the tab bar at the top disappears, so a simple return is not possible. Why is that? I haven't modified any templates.

Try on a unmodified default style. Also might need to try with other addons disabled.

If you create a new resource an immediately go to the discussion thread, does the same thing happen? If so, definitely agree with trying on an unmodified style with other add-ons disabled. If that situation works, then it could be related to the thread's discussion_type value, though that's generally something that's only exposed internally.
