XF 2.2 Disable Watch Thread

[Hotfix]

My users are complaining about getting too many alerts from the threads they've replied to. I would like to make it so, that the users no longer receive alerts from a thread only because they have replied to it. I have trouble finding such option.

Automaticaly watch content you create / interact with

admin can turn this off in registration defaults so that in future it will be opt in for new users

does this affects "replies only" as well? I mean when the user is not the thread's author.
