XF 1.1 Disable Menu Dropdowns

I see that all the menu dropdown links are shown horizontally. For example, "Forum" drop down links are displayed horizontally below it when selected. How do I disable the drop down for menu items like Forum and Members?

I recently attempted this with CSS but was unsuccessful. I don't know of a clean way to do this. You need to make significant changes to the templates to display different code for the selected tab versus not.

My only concern is that if I display Google Advertisements below the navbar, then there's a chance of menus overlapping the ads; which may go against Google TOS.
