In a discussion with someone over having a forum, is there any way to easily distinguish between the word for forum as it applies to the entire forum or the word forum as it applies to an individual forum within the forum? Just trying to get my techno talk straight.

    Both use cases are valid.

Some people use board for the entire forum/installation.

Aha - using board for the entire forum would be very helpful - thank you!

As forum is the most accepted use for the whole thing, I always refer to the forums within as sections of subforums.

I fear that if I was to ask a manner (posting in the wrong place) to please make sure you post in the correct forum, they may think I mean one of our rival forums.

I use community or site to represent my entire XF and add-ons functionality.
Forums to represent the listing of multiples on the forums homepage (eg. https://xenforo.com/community/ )
Forum to represent an individual node or sub-node (eg. https://xenforo.com/community/forums/off-topic.7/ )
