What happens when I delete a thread/post? Does it get completely removed from the forum or is it stored somewhere before being 'hard-deleted'?

Would creating a forum named 'Recycling Bin' have any use on XenForo forum software?

You can hard or soft delete, configurable in the permissions.

Soft deleted posts remain in situ.

You can however configure the Spam Cleaner to move posts to a specific forum.

    Soft deleted threads/posts remain where?

And isn't the Spam Cleaner an automatic function where I have to set up, and then run manually and it goes through my whole forum looking for spam?

They remain in their original location within the thread/forum

No, it operates on a per-member basis: http://xenforo.com/help/spam/

So they will be viewable by those that have the permissions to view deleted posts, but they won't be visible to those without that permission? And they will only be completely removed from the topic once they are hard deleted?

Ah yes. I'll have a look at that video provided tomorrow (it's 3:49 AM my time).
