XF 2.2 Delay new member posts

Hello

Is there a way to delay new members from posting, for say, 5 mins after registering?

We have been getting a lot of spam accounts registered then post (about 14 this morning).

You can use a user group promotion to promote after being registered for 5 minutes.

However, why not do what many of us do and set the spam systems up so new posts are moderated on keyword, or use a promotion to put the first x posts into the moderation queue.

simply, give new members the group moderated until x number of posts. we have been doing this since 2015 and have never had any problems with spam.

I thought about this, but my forum is very much a sign up and post, about live events.

Having users posts moderated would be a pain and slow the user exp down.

How is this done?

Set permissions for moderated posts to the group that new users start in by default (e.g. on Registered group set "Submit content without approval" to No)

Then create a new post-based User group promotion e.g. Verified with promotion applies while - tick User has posted at least X messages and provide a value (say, 1 or 2 posts) and give that group "Submit content without approval" set to Yes.

Then the first x posts will be moderated, but once those posts are done the user gets promoted to the unmoderated group and can post normally.

It doesn't seem you can use this method for time-based promotion shorter than 1 day however.
