XF 2.0 Custom User Field Error - Hardiness Zone

I'm trying to create a Custom User Field for Plant Hardiness Zone where the User would enter a number and letter (1-13, a-b) from 1a through 13b.
I'm using:
Single Line Text Box
I've tried two ways: A-Z, 0-9, and _ only & Regular Expression (inserting the choices)

But, I keep getting this error message:
Oops! We ran into some problems.
Please enter a value using only a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and _ characters.

Why would I need values if it is a Single Line Text Box where the user will type?

I finally figured it out! I was using the 3 User Fields that are already there...skype...facebook...twitter...as "models" for creating Hardiness Zone. Those three have the same ID and Name, so I did the same. ID: Hardiness Zone & Name: Hardiness Zone. It was only when I changed the ID to just one word Hardiness that it allowed me to save the new user field. Apparently, you can have no spaces in the User Field ID.
