Is it by design that custom thread fields in a post use the UI font instead of the body text font? It should use the body font.

This is generally expected -- they are displayed outside of what we consider to be the message body (the actual contents of the message).

Just my opinion but I think it's a mistake as everything appears inside the post and conceptually indistinguishable to all but developers, especially when you use multi-text boxes expecting a paragraph or two. However, I suppose this is easy to override with CSS? Maybe it makes more sense to separate with a simple HR tag.
