Custom Code to Count Members in Select User Groups?

I basically want to create a block in my side bar that will display a total number of users total in my X, Y, and Z primary user groups. So basically it will ultimately say something like "To date, this site has 124 vetted members" and the bold number would change as I add or remove members from the select groups. Does anyone know how to make this possible?

Here is a query you can run on your database to get that information:

But custom code is required to display that information on your forum pages. If you post a request here then some one might be able to help with this.
