XF 1.5 Custom BB code render in Redactor editor

I created a basic H1 custom BB code. Can I somehow have it render in the WYSIWYG editor?
For now it shows the raw BB code in the editor.
Do I need a PHP add-on to get this done?
If so, is it documented somewhere?

There's nothing built in that would allow that. It might be viable with an add-on, though there would be various components that need to be considered/handled.

It's a shame as the custom BB code already supports "HTML Email Replacement" and "Text Replacement", it would probably have been quite easy to have a "Wysiwyg Replacement".

Could I get some specifics on how to develop such an add-on?
Do I need to implement both a Base.php and a Wysiwyg.php in the right folder?
I'm new to XenForo, XenForo add-on development and PHP but got experience with other similar systems (Perl, twiki, Foswiki).
