XF 2.2 Cron seemingly stopped

Quick background:

• Use server based trigger for cron
• The server was updated a few days ago (ie replaced) - xenforo code was not updated
• There are now 44523 rows in xf_job (and increasing)
• site is otherwise fine - for now.
• All cron jobs are showing next run date 2-3 days in the past.
• running php cmd.php xf:run-jobs takes a little while, but returns "All outstanding jobs have run."
• on the advice of AI I have just run "

DELETE FROM xf_job WHERE unique_key = 'cron' AND trigger_date < UNIX_TIMESTAMP() - 3600;" but that made no instance (I also dumped that record)
* No server errors recorded.

Any ideas?

Manually delete all entries from the xf_job table and see if it starts to work again.

** Update **After removing all the email and push jobs, the other jobs did run and everything updated, but... new email and push jobs are not getting processed, leading to an increasing back log.

Really hard to trouble shoot these things when logs are not existant (even when running with a -vvv flag)

ok, sorted - my bad - turned it was a timer issue on the server.
