I have a small site, that is currently handicapped by being on the horrible VB5. How many conversions from VB5 to Xenforo have their been? What is involved in the transition? Any special costs to be aware of?

We don't officially support importing from vBulletin 5 and aside from that we don't offer a service ourselves to do it, though there are service providers here who do offer that service,
However, if you just want to do it yourself, then after purchasing XF you can use this unofficial importer:

It seems to be well supported and has received many updates so I would expect it to be fairly stable.

I totally agree. I highly recommend Slavik as well.
