Convert vB4 to xF

Congrats on your victory xF and to help celebrate I will be taking advantage of your upcoming sale and snatching up a license .

I just need to have a couple of questions answered.

• Does xF come with a converter? If not can someone recommend one?
• I currently have a vB 4.2 Suite with active blogs and deactivated CMS. How will the blogs be converted?
• Will forum and user permissions carry over?
• Once converted will members have to reset their passwords?
• What will happen with groups?
• Is there an Arcade, project tool, Blogs, CMS, Links Directory, Downloader, addons available?
• How hard is it to create custom pages?
• What are some recommended/useful addons?

This importer actually did import Social Groups, Social Groups Images, Blogs and lbums all into a category labelled vBulletin 4 imported Data.

Are you using the regular XF importer? So is this stuff actually put in a forum, i.e. publicly accessible in the new XF install? Can you post a link to how that looks?

I used this importer: http://xenforo.com/community/resources/vb4-importer.1025/
The importer puts those sections into a private category (node), I had to change the permissions so you can see them now at the bottom of the forums under vBulletin 4 Imported Data; http://iheartfreestyle.com/forums/index.php

Thanks, that looks pretty good. The only problem is, the vB I want to convert is 3.8...

^ouch! Upgrading up to vB would be a bit expensive (just for the purposes of importing over to xf). Maybe if you request it someone will create an importer for vB 3x.

I would assume it wouldn't be too hard to make the v4 one work with v3; I asked in the importer thread.
