XF 2.2 Cloning installation problem?

I'm trying to clone my live installation for a new testbed for stuff, but when I go to the new address, it reverts me back to my main live forum, and I can't figure out how to fix it?

What i've done:
Exported live database into a ..sql file
imported .sql file into a new database w/ different info
copied files over to a new subdomain directory
edited config file to reflect new database.


but when I go to subdomain1.site.com it just reverts me back to site.com and my main installation. Any ideas as to why? or how to fix this? Thanks.

I put in a clean .htaccess file, still the same result. I can't figure out why :/

You need to update this:

Admin control panel -> Setup -> Options -> Basic options -> Board URL

You need to update this:

I can't even reach the admin panel.

The Board URL and canonical options won't prevent accessing the ACP directly - navigate directly to site.com/admin.php.

I did that and it says there's a database error, and it keeps adding an additional /forums/ to the URL. I can't seem to get this to work properly. I might just scrap the idea entirely.

A database error means the dump or restore is wrong, or the log in credentials are wrong.

What is the exact error?
