Changing smilie order

Is it possible to change the order that smilies appear in the drop-down box without removing them from your forum? We'd like to rearrange these somewhat so that they are aligned better.

The editor's smilie menu orders the smilies by id number. You can either remove / re-add the smilies in the order you want. Or you can directly edit the records in the xf_smilie table to change the ids. If you directly edit the records then you need to edit/save a smilie in the Admin CP afterwards to prompt a rebuild of the smilie cache.

The order is determined/set when they are created in the ACP.

You can check the ID number of each smiley by hovering over it/editing it, or in the DB table.

If the smilies are removed, then re-added what will happen to the old posts that reference them? Will the smilies still appear correctly in old posts?
