XF 1.4 Categories inside a forum?

Hi, everytime I make a category inside a forum it turns into a forum itself instead of a category. Let me provide a picture example.

When I create a category in the forum root, I obtain this:

But if I make a category child to a forum then, it looks like this:

I'm looking for it to look like this instead

How can I achieve this?

@andrewgbest, try ticking the "Create Pages for Categories" option in Admin CP --> Home --> Options --> Node & Forum List:


That should display a dedicated node list of your child category when clicked from the main index node list.

That's not what he is asking, he's wanting the subheading inside the forum_view template(which I don't know how to do off the top of my head )

Ah I stand corrected, misinterpreted. I had another look at the test forum @andrewgbest linked to and according to this thread, that is XF 1.x behaviour (displaying more than 1 level of subcategories/subforums within a forum).

I did some digging around and it seems @clamoune posted a workaround to edit one of the core files to revert this behaviour back so it would display more than 1 level though I don't know if it would work on XF 1.4.x :
