I had recently purchased xenforo and followed all the steps to install (placing things in the correct place, changing file perms) but when ever I attempt to install it I get a 404 error. please help!
You didn't get a 404. You received a 500 Internal Server Error, which generally is one of the hardest things to debug. You should be able to contact your host to help give you an idea of what the error is.
