Can you use Xen syntax in notices?

I'd like a section of the notice to only display when a user is logged in.

I've tried wrapping it in

<xen:if is="{$visitor.user_id}">
stuff
</xen:if>

But it still displays when logged out.

Any ideas?

I know I could use two notices, one for logged in users and one for visitors but I have a lot of notices like this that I don't want duplicated.

Nope, that code doesn't work in notices.

Creating multiple notices is one way.

Another possibility is to use CSS. Here is an example:

But you need to create a member / guest conditional to name a class out in the templates so you can use it for styling.

I've now managed to resolve my issues without the need for logged in and logged out criteria, but thanks for the info anyway!
