XF 1.4 Can somebody help me rewrite URL attachment

Hello,
I have a problem with Xenforo's attachment link, and really need your help !
Can you tell me how to redirect /attachments/657.xyz/ to /attachments/657/ only with xyz is a variable file extension.

I am now using Nginx web service.

I think it will be easier for you to know my situation: I want xenforo to auto redirect /attachments/file-name-ext.id to /attachments/id/ I think the plugin of @Mike http://xenforo.com/community/threads/route-filters.47946/ will work but dont know how to config it @Jake Bunce , @Jeremy , @Digital Doctor @Martok If you know, please help me Thank you so much.
