XF 1.4 Can I give specific users permission to access a forum?

Discussion in 'XenForo Questions and Support' started by Brendan Burgess, Jan 18, 2015.

  1. I want to set up a private forum for Johnny, Pat and Mary only. No mods. No Admins.(Actually it doesn't matter if Mods or Admins have access)

I have set up the forum.
    I have made it private.
I have refused access to all users

Now how do I give Johnny access to that forum?

Do I have to set up a new user group the "JPM Forum Users" and make them members of it?

Click on the Permissions link in the node tree.

Enter the User Name in the field at the top right and click [Set Permissions].

Set the 'View node' permission to 'Allow'.

You don't need to do that if you have made the node Private.
If you have used Never in any of the user groups to deny access, no-one will ever be able to access it as Never cannot be overridden.
