XF 1.3 Can I change the user role shown manually?

When a user adds a post his avatar is shown at the left. Below user name and user role is shown, e.h. "moderator" or "new user".

Some of my users are book authors. What I would like to do is define a user role "Author" and show it below all author avatars irrespective of their number of posts. And they are no moderators or admins.

Any ideas how can I do this?

Create a new user group with that title and a higher display styling priority than the other user groups they are a member of.
