I did this however I have mysql 5.7 and I do not know if there is there with eventuel problems.

There shouldn't be any problems as your version is newer than MySQL v5.5:

@CoZmicShReddeR My first guess if that your xenforo database doesn't use a unicode character set.

Can you try creating a post on your installation with emoji characters and let me know if it manages to get saved and renders correctly afterwards?
An example input can be: 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂

I have the exact same issue and I have been digging for a fix on and off for several months... I think it can be fixed if only that information led me somewhere in the files or database!

I would prefer not to relax the emoji requirement in the upstream repository as I consider utfmb4 to be pretty standard nowadays, but I certainly appreciate anyone who would like to hack this open-source add-on for their own needs! Releasing derivatives is also explicitly permitted (but not required).

The important lines can be found highlighted in the 2 files below (there might be more):
./_data/phrases.xml (line 12) (remove the 🎂 🍰 🍫 🌮 🍦 🍬 🍭 🍾 string from the phrase)
./_data/options.xml (line 4) (do the same with \ud83c\udf70 which acts as the default value - you will need to manually define a Font Awesome icon in the add-on options afterwards through the admin panel, e.g. set it to fa-birthday-cake).
