Building from scratch - traffic routing question.

Hello everyone,

As the title implies, I'm building from a forum from scratch.

I have purchased the url.. and have tried to get as organized as possible. Been reading a lot of the feedback here and have decided to go with the cloud. Have not purchased yet but will be going Xenforo for sure, but I have some questions about hosting and traffic.

How is the traffic routed? Can Xenforo provide "a records" and "c names" , or would traffic be routed through nameservers?

Main reason I ask is because I understand xenforo can not do outbound email with my url name. So, I've gone and opened a Amazon SES account (reading all the feedback) but trying to set it up has been a bit of a nightmare. Any help with that would be great.

The company I registered my url with (CanSpace) also offers hosting services, if offering reasonable price and will do all of this for me but I don't know if it would be compatible.

Am I able to split traffic up so that all emails are handled by another host?

You can use one of our free Cloud URLs or a custom URL.
You would just need to add a and name records for the latter.

You can configure SMTP email for cloud plans if desired.

would xenforo provide the "a records" and "c names" records for a custom url?

sorry for the redundancy I am completely new to any of this. Have reached out to Russ in this community who will be helping me but I don't want to waste too much of his time so I'm putting it out the community at large.

I am going the cloud route as I need scalability and I don't want to have an issue for security unless there is some advantage to self hosting as opposed to Xenforo cloud.

I want to be able to send emails from my custom url something I understand Xenforo is not capable of. I looked into Google Workspace, Zoho... settled on Amazon SES but it's really confusing me.
