XF 1.1 Blank page while installing addons/rebuilding templates. Can I stick something there?

I would kill to be able to display something during that blank moment. It tends to freak people out and there is never any good time to do it because people are always on

Do I have to edit the htaccess file each time I want to do things?

Yep.

That is possible with some modifications to the code. You would have to set a flag in the database during a rebuild and then check that flag when rendering a page. This would make a good suggestion for a future version.

This is something that bothers me as well. I wish there was a more convenient way to tell users to not panic. The .htaccess file method in the other thread is clever though, thanks Jake for that.
