You can utilize the paygates addon and have a BitCoin plugin created. The platform already exists. It only needs a bitcoin plugin.

No it's not a must default option. Not everyone uses or cares to use Bitcoin. The reason PayPal is the only one implemented in core is because for the most part it's the most used payment processer.

I worked on a Bitpay integration for my site, in XF2. It'll need tweaks to become publicly usable but I'll probably end up releasing that.

With the recent developments of bitcoin and its increase of popularity it would be a welcome feature to have the bitcoin function of stripe functional. Stripe is already in core.
