XF 2.1 Best way to request access to a private forum?

Currently we have a private forum set up so that registered users can see that the forum exists but cannot view or create posts. What is the best way to enable users to request access to this private forum? We have a notice at the top of the forum with a link that opens a new Conversation with the moderator, but we'd like to make the request process easier. Is there such a thing as a forum-specific approval queue, or at least a way to pre-fill the title and body of the new Conversation so all they have to do is hit Send? Thanks.

I would go and setup a form.

You can have predefined answers, they just need to hit the submit button. The form can be send as a conversation or a thread, or a post. But better ask the developers @Snog or @ozzy47

This is the best addon for any kind of "applications". You can even set user group promotions and automatically put your users in different usergroups once submitting the form.

Use the report feature and have them say "let me in please?"

There's another way you can do it. It's an opposite approach of allowing them to see it first and excluding themselves if they wish but this can often work better, in allowing all to see what they may not know is there. Plus, it's automated!

So you would get the Ignore Content add-on which allows users to ignore Forums.
In your Notice, you write: If you do not wish to see this content, click Ignore.
There's also a setting to prevent users from ignoring forums so you could make this the only one they can.

There's also a handy thread ignore feature that comes with it.
