XF 1.2 Best way to add a theme?

I've left the default theme on my forum for too long and some members like it and are used to it. I've also added a few more free themes that other members really like.

I am finally at the point to where I want to make my forum have it's own identity and purchased and modified a theme I like.

My question is what is the best way to install all these themes?

I am asking because there are a few things I want to hide like staff online and a few other elements.

If I install each theme as it's own parent then I have to edit 5 different templates and hope to remember to change them all. If I install them as a child under the default theme I only have to change the default once and the other will change.

Is there a best practice to adding new themes?

Thanks.

The answer is "it depends".

If you plan to have several styles which are based on the same style, with only a few changes, then install one as a parent and have the rest as children.

If they are completely different styles then make them all parents.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Just didn't want to make more work for myself and wanted confirmation.

All the themes will have the same style just different color schemes and minor changes.

Appreciate the info.
