XF 2.3 Banning Gmail aliases (+) sign

I wonder if this is a valid way to ban Gmail aliases? They work by adding + to existing Gmail.
Like realmail+extra@gmai.com will send email to realmail@gmail.com basically they can create infinite aliases off 1 Gmail.
I thought of adding this to banned emails:

*+*@gmail.com
*+*@googlemail.com

Would that rule work for it?

Periods can also be used so you would also need to add *.*.*@gmail.com .
