Server issue Avatar upload issue

When trying to upload an avatar to the user I select the file then get the following error:

Folder permissions are setup correctly and attachment upload works perfectly fine, I am running debian with nginx, varnish and APC any help would be much appreciated.

Noted and problem solved PHP-gd wasn't installed
